Recovered Data on a Hard Disk
You have just received a hard disk from
Tic Tac containing your recovered data.
Your recovered data may be one of the
following two types:
1. 100% recovery – In this case,
recovery was complete and the recovered
data are an exact image of your
original hard disk, including the OS.
2. Partial recovery (typically, close to
100%) – In this case, recovery is less
than complete and includes recovered
files, but does not include the OS.
Connecting your hard disk to your
computer:
1. Use the assistance of a certified
computer technician to ensure that your
hard disk is replaced properly in your
computer tower.
2. Verify that the disk jumpers are
properly defined. The default definition
of the hard disk you receive from us is
“Master", which means that this disk
should be connected to an IDE cable
without any additional disk. A second
disk can be connected to the same cable
if is defined as “Slave”.
3. In most cases, your computer’s BIOS
should automatically identify the disk.
Otherwise, define the BIOS accordingly.
Note:
1. Some older computer models are
limited in their ability to connect
large-volume hard disks. Ask Tic Tac’s
laboratory engineers about your
computer’s limitations and possible
purchase of a new disk.
2. In the case of a partial recovery,
connect the disk with a properly
operating OS, otherwise you will not be
able to use your recovered data. If you
purchased a hard disk from Tic Tac, it
should be used as the sole disk in your
system. Ask the Tic Tac laboratory
engineers to partition the hard disk
into two partitions: the first partition
will be empty and will be used by you to
install your OS. The second partition
will contain your recovered data.
Recovered Data on a CD ROM/DVD
You may receive your recovered data
in one of two formats:
1. Uncompressed data are burned on
optical discs (CD ROMs or DVDs). This
format is typically used for a small
number of recovered files.
2. Data are compressed and burned on
optical discs including RAR compression.
This format is typically used when the
number of recovered files is large.
Uncompressed data
Place your disc into the drive. After
several seconds, Tic Tac Copy software
will run. You will be prompted to select
the target directory on your hard disk.
Confirm your selection by clicking OK.
The recovered files will be copied to
the target directory on your hard drive.
Compressed data
Place your disc into the drive. Define a
new directory on your hard drive, and
copy all the files on the disc to the
directory. After all files have been
copied, open the new directory and run
the first file. The name of this file
includes the string “part1” and the
suffix of the file is “.exe”.
A new window will open and you will be
prompted to select a target directory
for the recovered data. After selecting
a target directory, click INSTALL. The
uncompressed recovered data will be
copied into the target directory.
